Naugatuck Chamber’s Duck Race & Festival Returns to Downtown Naugatuck Sunday, June 1st for 20th Edition NAUGATUCK—One of the longest-running community events in Naugatuck—the Naugatuck Chamber’s Duck Race & Festival—returns for its 20th edition on Sunday, June 1 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. The family-friendly event attracts thousands of residents and visitors to the Borough each year for an afternoon of food trucks, kids’ games and activities, craft vendors, and of course, the highlight of the day: the duck race, when thousands of rubber ducks are sent floating down the Naugatuck River from the Whitmore Bridge. Twenty prizes will be given out for the first ducks that cross the line, including two $5,000 cash prizes, gift certificates, and other items. Each ticket is only $5 and can be purchased online at www.duckday.com or at the event. Proceeds from the Duck Race will benefit more than 80 area non-profits. Over the last 20 years, Duck Day has helped over 500 area nonprofit organizations raise more than $510,000 as part of the Duck Day raffle. Madhouse Party Band, a high-energy regional party dance rock band, will be performing during the festival, which takes place on Maple Street in downtown Naugatuck. Other activities include a Jeep decorating contest sponsored by Shaker Automotive Group and a corporate duck race at noon that features large rubber ducks sponsored by area businesses. The main duck race featuring over 12,000 rubber ducks kicks off at 2 p.m. Kids’ activities include duck-related games, face painting, street performers, bounce houses, and an inflatable obstacle course. This year’s Duck Day Market will feature a wide variety of vendors, including Blueberry Cat Collectibles, The Craft Addict, Farmstyle Woodworks, For the Furry Friend, the Hangry Spice Company, the Inner Artist, Intergalactic Gems, Make a Bracelet, Ocean and Sand Permanent Jewelry, Redeeming Life Nutrition, Rick Stromoski Cartoons, Robins Nest Home & Hearth, Slime Before Time, Susquis Designs, Tooth & Nail Tattoo, Trend My Soul jewelry, and Yarn Tales.
