In 1941, the mountaintop known as Grandpa's Knob in Rutland County, Vermont, made wind energy history: it was home to the world's first megawatt-size wind turbine that successfully delivered power into an electric utility's system. Today, Noble Environmental Power is excited to follow in the footsteps of those who pioneered the world's first modern wind turbine on Grandpa's Knob. With its good wind resource, Grandpa's Knob is ideally positioned to provide economic and clean energy benefits resulting from a state-wide initiative to increase electric power generation from renewable energy sources. Noble is currently assessing the ridgeline in Castleton, Hubbardton, Pittsford, and West Rutland to determine its suitability for a windpark. Our initial estimates suggest that Grandpa's Knob could support up to a 50 megawatt windpark, which would yield the following benefits for communities: BNE Energy Inc. was founded in 2006 for the purpose of developing wind generation in New England with continued growth throughout the country. BNE believes strongly that clean, green, renewable wind generation needs to be a valuable component of the region's energy resource mix. Our vision is to become a leading developer, owner, operator and supplier of clean, green, 100% renewable wind energy delivering significant value to investors, ratepayers and the community. Since inception, BNE has worked diligently to identify potential sites for wind development resulting in three exciting projects. BNE has obtained site control over three properties in New England with a total expected capacity of 50 to 60 megawatts (MW). The sites are ideally situated for wind generation in the communities where they are located. We are currently working to procure additional sites and expect to soon have more than 100 MW of wind generation in the development pipeline. Our Mission BNE’s mission is to develop, construct and operate clean, green, renewable wind generation facilities in a responsible manner. We are striving to become a leading supplier of wind energy – adding a significant amount of renewable, sustainable energy to our electric supply while protecting our environment and improving the community.
